There are approximately 52 indigenous and 34 introduced wind-dispersed grass species in Texas. Grasses flower primarily during the summer though some species flower in the spring while others flower in the fall. Grasses are one of the most significant causes of pollinosis in the United States and the most important species which are common to Texas are listed above.
