Celtis

Common Species of TexasC. laevigat (Sugar or Southern Hackberry), C. pallida (Desert Hackberry), C. reticulata (Netleaf Hackberry)

Hackberries are within the family Ulmaceae and share certain characteristics with elm trees. However, the hackberries only flower in the spring from April to May, and while there are reports of pollinosis from Celtis, the allergenic level of hackberries is significantly lower than the level produced by the elms.
