The genus, Periconia, has numerous species which have been isolated all over the world. These fungi produce leaf spots and blackened areas on herbaceous stems.

 

On common laboratory media, the colonies are grey, brown, olivaceous brown, or black, and hairy, though natural growth characteristics may vary.
