Depending on growth conditions, many fungal species can either go through an anamorphic (asexual) phase or a teleomorphic (sexual) phase. Eurotium, similar to Emericella, is the teleomorphic stage of many of the Aspergillus species.
On common laboratory media colonies range from dirty green to yellow though natural growth characteristics can vary.
Eurotium frequently contaminates dried fish where it produces mycotoxins such as ochratoxin A and citreoviridin.
