Curvularia

Aerobiology Gallery
The numerous species making up the genus Curvularia are common saprobic fungi often found on dead plant material. Some occasionally occur as weak plant pathogens though rarely infect humans. However in some cases species can cause chronic, non-specific, allergic sinusitis especially among immuno-compromised hosts.
On common laboratory media cultures typically display shades of grey, green, brown or black with a cottony appearance though natural growth characteristics can vary.
